Form. Minister Of State For Defence Musiliu Obanikoro Announces The Death Of His Mother

Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has announced the death of his mother, Alhaja Wasliat Obanikoro.

Alhaja Wasliat Obanikoro who is fondly called Iya Lati, died in the early hours of this Saturday morning, June 3, after a very brief illness at the age of 95. She had been a petty trader in the past and lived in her Isale-Eko house where she died.

Obanikoro wrote: “My mother, Alhaja Wasilat Obanikoro died in the early hours of this morning after a very brief illness at the ripe old age of 95.

“Her death is saddening but I and my siblings are consoled that it was peaceful, in her own bed and also in the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“She will be buried this afternoon at Ikoyi Cemetery by 2pm after prayers at her residence in Barnabas Gemade Estate, Lagos Island.

“May we and all those bereaved in this period, find fortitude to bear our losses and may the departed rest in peace. Iya Lati, sleep on.”
